About
Francesco Munari
Francesco Munari is an Italian artist born in Mezzolombardo (Trento) in 1972, trained in Trento, Bologna and Florence. Today he works in pen, pencils and acrylic paint. His archive holds more than 130 drawings divided into six series: birds, wildlife, ironic bestiary, figure, portraits and still life.
He combines pen and pencils with acrylic paint, after a path that also ran through watercolour, sculpture and airbrush. He does not stick to one fixed style: the technique changes from work to work, and it allows him to hold together naturalistic observation, feather by feather, and the surreal play of a hippopotamus with a cigar or an elephant in a tutu.
